DANA'S BLOG October 2010
OCTOBER 29, 2010
So many things to do every day! When did I ever have time to work? Getting ready for the next novel. I'm working on the characters already! Monica LeFleur, the main character, her husband, Pierre, and her boss, Richard Stonier. I have no idea what the title will be, but I have a direction, and that is a good start! Can't wait until Nov. 1 - but I must wait!
OCTOBER 26, 2010
Finished with "After the Great Devastation" so it is now available to order!
OCTOBER 25, 2010
I work for the U.N.! I'm UNemployed!
OCTOBER 23, 2010
New series of dreams for laid-off workers: "Where's My Office?" I was searching and searching, then woke up and realized, "Oh. I don't have one there any more." Then I smiled. I could sleep in! (Okay, it's Saturday, but now I can sleep in every day!)
OCTOBER 22, 2010
First day off the job, and another Positive: can check and update Facebook any time of the day (or night!)- and I am already used to not working! (I slept in until 9:30.)
OCTOBER 21, 2010
Now I'm all finished with WSD. It's weird. No one really said anything, my last day, a Thursday, no retirement party or going away party or goodbye, (we had days of hugging and crying when they first told me two weeks ago,) I just collected all my stuff and took it to my car and drove out of the parking lot... and I thought, smiling, "I'M FREE!"

Thinking positive about being laid off...
1 - never became a morning person, even after 27 years of a 7:30 am shift;
2 - just in time for National Novel Writing Month in November;
3 - will qualify for unemployment;
4 - looking for God to open the door for our move to Yakima;
5 - after recovering from the shock, can get back on track with meal planning and exercise program;
6 - more time to spend with my husband and son
OCTOBER 14, 2010
Actually, God answered Nathan's prayer that we move to Yakima when He took away my job. How else can we get over there?
OCTOBER 13, 2010
Enjoying our final night with Aunt Helen before she takes off early tomorrow morning. Blessings! Thank God for family!
OCTOBER 12, 2010
Back from a cross-state trip taking Auntie to see Dad in Spokane then Dale n Mom in Yakima. Blessings upon all!
OCTOBER 10, 2010
Happy Birthday, Uncle Bill! 10-10-10! Kinda interesting, on this day my Uncle Billy (Dad's brother-in-law) went home to be with the LORD, on my Uncle Bill's (Mom's brother-in-law) birthday.
OCTOBER 7, 2010
My Aunt Helen is visiting! After a 3-hour flight delay - since the skycap put her on the wrong plane - we are glad she arrived safely! My husband made us all a nice dinner and we are really enjoying our visit, her first to Vancouver/Portland, all the way from Roswell, New Mexico! We are going to Spokane this weekend to visit my dad - her brother!
OCTOBER 6, 2010
Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say, It Is Well, It Is Well With My Soul.
OCTOBER 5, 2010
So, everyone, please buy my new book, "The Red Cloak," since I'm soon-to-be unemployed!
OCTOBER 4, 2010
Please pray for me, after 27 years on the job, I just got the axe. What about seniority? Doesn't matter - since they cut me to a 9-month employee 10 years ago, I'm in 'a different layoff unit.' What does that mean? They can pick and choose who they want to let go! So that's it, then. When they asked me to come to the sup's office, I knew... that hall in Clarke Hall never looked so long, like walking to the electric chair. He made no sense. Blah-blah-blah. No Thank You, but wasn't it hard for him to have to tell me? R, J, J, A, L. I paced the house for hours. Thank God for Mom and Dad and my husband to encourage me on the phone while I'm home alone. My family should be home tomorrow, I hope.
OCTOBER 1, 2010
My family went to Long Beach, California for our daughter's wedding. I couldn't go becasue I have to work. So I have a few days to myself and I am praying for a safe journey and wonderful wedding! Plus I have lots of projects in progress!!!
