DANA'S BLOG - November 2008

Hooray! I finished my novel, "The Red Cloak," on Monday, Nov. 24! I crossed the 50,000 word line on Monday night at 11:42 p.m. It took on a life of its own. It went in a direction I didn't intend, off the outline, but I still like it. Leeza, the main character, is my first MC that isn't really based on me (at one time or another.) Happy Birthday to our grandson, Darnell!

We visited Sister Dorsey and I was happy to see she had a lot of visitors from out of town! People are coming from all over the country to let her know how she has blessed them! One man is an apostle from Detroit, her godson, and there were 4 people from California. We didn't stay long - we can come back again soon, and they have just this one opportunity. Her music and her life's dedication to the Lord have really made a difference in my life.

We visited Sister Dorsey again today, and I showed her some photos of our kids. When she saw our daughter's photo, whom she hasn't seen in about 12 years, when she was just 9 or so, Sister Dorsey said, "I'm keeping this one!" Then she said our daughter looks like me; what a compliment, since our daughter is so beautiful! Sister Dorsey was also very patient with our son, who is a handful. We sang Christmas carols and we prayed again. You know, for a person who is 75 years old, her skin is just like that of a teenager! She has not one wrinkle on her face! She is hopiDecember 5, 2009r as much as my schedule allows before she goes home. She has been such a blessing to me, I want to do whatever I can for her, even if I can just sit with her for a few minutes to keep her company.

We had the opportunity to visit Sister Dorsey today, to pray with her and sing for her. I visited her with Pastor J.W. Friday and Nathan. We had been informed by her son that she had a stroke and was having memory trouble. Well, she sure remembered us! She told me about the last time she had seen my husband, last February, at a funeral, and she had given him her phone number and he hadn't called - and I hadn't seen her in at least 5 years. But she knew who I was and who my husband is. Then she told Pastor Friday about the time when they had met, many years ago, and he had given her a ride home. There's nothing wrong with her memory now!

WE FOUND HER! One of our dear friends, Sister Willa Dorsey, is in a local health care center in Portland. She is an internationally-known singing evangelist, and I am surprised that I can't find any of her music on CD online!

National Novel Writing Month! I am writing "The Red Cloak" as my Nano novel. It's a bit different from my other books... but aren't they all quite different from each other???
